The Singapore International Jewelry Expo (SIJE) 2024 concluded successfully on 14 July, solidifying its reputation as a premier event in the global jewellery calendar.
Held at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, the four-day event from 11 to 14 July showcased an extensive array of jewellery, gemstones, and luxury timepieces, attracting significant participation from both exhibitors and attendees.
With over 335 brands from 30 countries and jewellery valued at over USD 250 million, SIJE 2024 underscored Singapore’s pivotal role in the international jewellery industry.
Prestigious Inauguration
The SIJE 2024 was officially inaugurated by Mr Alvin Tan, Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry & Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth. The event saw the presence of several distinguished guests, including His Excellency Dante Brandi, Ambassador of Italy to Singapore and Brunei, and Mr Giorgio Calveri, Trade Commissioner, Italian Trade Agency (ITA) Singapore, among others.
Noteworthy Premieres
Several exceptional jewellery pieces and gemstones made their global debut at SIJE 2024:
- 100.02-carat Natural Royal Blue Sapphire: This rare sapphire, cut from a 900-carat rough crystal, was showcased by Vihari Jewels and authenticated by Gem Research Swisslab (GRS).
- 9-carat Pigeon Blood Ruby Ring: Originating from Mozambique, this ruby was set with trapezoid diamonds in a white gold ring, valued at SGD 4 million, presented by DeGem.
- Imperial Jade Necklace: Featuring 47 Natural Imperial Jadeite Beads and weighing 691 carats, this unique necklace was valued at SGD 3.8 million and certified by HKJJA, displayed by Ivy Masterpiece.
- Natural Fancy Light Pink Diamond Ring: This GIA-certified 4.01-carat diamond ring, priced at SGD 1.18 million, was also showcased by Ivy Masterpiece.
International Participation
The expo highlighted global participation, notably from Italy and Indonesia. The Italian Jewellers Pavilion, supported by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and the Italian Embassy, featured 14 Italian jewellers. Their collections demonstrated craftsmanship and innovative designs. Indonesia also showcased its jewellers with a variety of pearls and gemstones, supported by the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore and Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI).
Supporting Emerging Talent
SIJE 2024 continued its tradition of promoting emerging talent through the Singapore Jewellery Design Award (SJDA). Supported by the Singapore Jewellers Association (SJA), Jewellery Design & Management International School (JDMIS), and IEG Asia, the competition fostered creativity and technical excellence. This year’s theme, “Sustainable Luxury,” encouraged designers to integrate luxury with sustainability. Winners were awarded cash prizes, training vouchers, and an exhibition booth at the Vicenzaoro jewellery show in Italy.

The four-day event included knowledge-sharing sessions, fashion shows, receptions, and community-based activities for both the public and industry professionals.
